Our basic convictions

The Stirling Theological College has developed its courses and units of study in light of some basic convictions.

The Good News of God
The fundamental task for all who undertake ministry is to know and be gripped by the gospel shown supremely in Jesus Christ. This requires careful and prolonged study of what the gospel is and how it is to be expressed in contemporary life. Nothing is more important, or practical, than gaining these insights.

The
Mission of God through the Church
Fulfilling God's mission requires healthy, effective churches that are growing in all the key dimensions - witness, worship, caring, mission, teaching and justice. Dynamic churches come in all sizes, small, medium and large, and for them mission, not maintenance, is basic.

Leadership
The ministry of Jesus Christ is the model for all Christian ministries. God uses leaders with different personalities. All are encouraged to discover and strengthen their gifts and competencies.

People-centred Ministry
The pluralism in contemporary society requires flexibility in the ways ministry is pursued. The church is especially called to serve people outside the church so that they can see and hear the gospel and respond in faith to God.
